January 21, 2017 – Washington, D.C.
Ashley Judd took the stage at the Women’s March on Washington today and no one was prepared for what came next. Instead of giving a straightforward talk about the need to resist Donald Trump for the next four years, the actress unleashed a searing spoken word performance that would have been more at home in a coffee house in the 1950’s or on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam.
Her righteously angry performance of “Nasty Woman” immediately caused a sensation in the crowd and on the internet. After all this is the actress known for starring in a series of successful thrillers and romantic comedies, not winning first prize at a poetry slam. No one was expecting her to go on stage and sound like Saul Williams.

Let’s hope more women will take on the mantle of being “nasty”. It’s the only way we’ll get through the next four years!
